Whitesnake drummer Brian Tichy didn’t have the best New Year’s Eve ever. In fact, he might have had one of the worst, as he broke his collarbone in a mountain bike accident. That curtailed the drummer’s plans to play a New Year’s Eve gig with Led Zeppelin tribute band The Moby Dicks. “Typin with yor arm in a sling after u get back from er after wipin on your mtn. bike n breakin yor collarbone jus sux,” he tweeted. Normally, we’d be giving him crap for his spelling, but not this time.

Tichy has been giving a constant stream of updates via Twitter. “I am now going to be more METAL than ever before. I am going to have a metal plate and screws on my right collarbone at 11am today!” he tweeted yesterday. In addition to playing drums for Whitesnake, Tichy is also playing guitar in a new band, S.U.N. He plans on returning to guitar and drums shortly. While the veteran drummer, who has also played with Billy Idol, Foreigner and Ozzy Osbourne, among others, missed his New Year’s Eve show with The Moby Dicks, he’s planning on getting the Led out later this month at NAMM as part of the Bonzo Bash NAMM Jamm.
