amnesia rockfest squareCanada may not be on the same level as Europe when it comes about rock and metal festivals but they are working their way there with massive festivals across their maple-y country. Amnesia Rockfest is one of the biggest festivals our northern neighbors have and, aside from being the set of cheesy porn videos, they always boast big names like System of A Down, Motley Crue, Alice in Chains and such, and this year’s edition won’t the exception to that rule.

This year, the festival is bringing many acts that you may want to see like Puscifer, Ice Cube, Korn and even At The Drive In got confirmed even though there is no word on who’s going to replace their newly departed guitarist Jim Ward. Aside from the massive list of bands, there are many special sets being announced like Twisted Sister’s “Last Canadian Show Ever,” NOFX performing Punk in Drublic in its entirety, and Travis Barker’s solo set. There is one battle of the bands taking place right now though, and that’s Sepultura and the Cavalera Brothers making some drama online.

It appears that both bands have been booked for the festival and are scheduled to perform the same day which may cause some conflict among the fans and, according to Max Cavalera’s wife Gloria, this was a move done by Sepultura to throw off the Cavalera Brothers’ set:

Something that we brought up before, Sepultura’s classic record Roots is turning 20 this year and both, the Cavaleras and Sepultura themselves, will be doing some special shows in its celebration and according to the bill, the Cavaleras will be doing that particular set to the festival, so we’re not sure if Sepultura is planning to do the same but that’s something that will come up at the fest.

Sepultura hasn’t responded to any of Gloria’s accusations about trying to conflict the Cavalera’s set but we’ll see how that unfolds. If you happen to be attending to the festival, which set would you rather go see? If you don’t care about the Brazilians at all, we suggest go see those Pantera and GG Allin “Special Tribute Shows” booked at the festival. Check out the entire list of bands confirmed below:

Black Metal enthusiast from Los Angeles who thought was a good idea to grab a camera and shoot underground shows for the hell of it. Pseudo-writer with little to no expectations of ever winning a Pulitzer but totally down to write about your unknown band if it's good to my ears. I enjoy long walks on the beach, deep conversation, holding hands and attending Satanic music shows every now and then.
