While making it pretty clear that a Pantera reunion without the late Dimebag Darrell would never happen, Vinnie Paul’s comments about Zakk Wylde being “the guy” to fill in for his brother got many gossiping. So much so that rumors of a Pantera reunion with the Black Label Society leader took on a life of its own. However, Philip Anselmo was quick to shoot down such an idea as “wishful thinking” in a recent radio interview. And now it’s time for bassist Rex Brown to do the same.

When asked by San Antonio Metal Music Examiner asked the bassist (now in Kill Devil Hill) about where he stood on Paul and Anselmo’s bitter relationship, Brown had the following to say:

“Vinnie’s just not open to talking to either one of us. Nothing to do with me. I have no problem talking to Vince. We emailed a couple times, but nothing major. You know, we keep hearing rumors about a reunion with Zakk Wylde on guitar, and that is such bull—-. You can’t replace my brother.”

So there you have it: don’t expect to see the remaining members of Pantera taking the stage with Zakk Wylde anytime soon. And as we said before, we’re ok with that. Paul said it best during the same interview he made the comments about Wylde, saying “But I honestly think, out of respect for my brother, I think we should just leave the 14 amazing years Pantera had be.”
