1-1The following day, the band returned to Yankee Stadium for the first time since the Big Four show several years ago. Today was closing pitcher Mariano Rivera’s retirement ceremony. For years, he’s taken to the mound to the strains of “Enter Sandman,” and it didn’t take long to piece together that with the band in town the night before, that they might play his signature song as part of the ceremony. And sure thing, as 50,000 attendees got to the game for the stadium, they noticed a set of drums and amps in the outfield. Later, as Mo took the mound, the band, with their own pinstriped jerseys, took to the stage to play the song. It was a fitting sendoff to one of the Yankees’ finest. It doesn’t look like the band is done yet their promotional blitz yet, either. Metallica fans with SiriusXM can tune in to Howard Stern tomorrow to hear the band on the show. That is, if they can tear themselves away from the Mandatory Metallica channel.
