For the fourth year in a row, Metal Insider will be at New York’s CMJ Music Marathon. This year, we’ll be hosting a happy hour listening party at the Acheron in Brooklyn on Friday, October 16th sponsored by our friends at Century Media Records. From 6-8, we’ll be screening selections from Broken Hope’s forthcoming DVD Live Disease at Brutal Assault, which is in stores this Friday. We’ll also be playing a selection of songs from Swallow the Sun’s forthcoming triple (!) album, Songs From the North I+II+II.
What’s more is that in advance of their show later that evening at Saint Vitus, Broken Hope guitarist Jeremy Wagner will be hanging out, and all the way from Finland, Swallow the Sun’s Aleksi Munter will also be in attendance! If you have a CMJ badge, you’ll be able to get in for free. But even if you don’t, we’ve got you covered. Our listening party is the prequel to Metal Sucks and Metal Injection’s sixth annual CMJ showcase, which will take place at the Acheron right after the listening party. If you show up for the listening party and grab a ticket for the showcase, if you’re one of the first 50 people to do so, you’ll get a free drink! If you came out to our CMJ showcase last year, some of the bands playing will seem familiar. Black Crown Initiate and Toothgrinder will be playing their showcase, along with Cryptodira, Native Construct and Black Fast. The event is 18+, and there’s no reason you shouldn’t be there, so mark your calendars now.
