In just a few weeks, CMJ will be taking over New York City, and hundreds of bands and college students will be converging on NYC and Brooklyn for music panels and label parties during the day and showcases and more label parties at night. There will be some metal stuff to do during the week, like our CMJ Happy Hour with Broken Hope and Swallow the Sun, as well as the Metal Sucks and Metal Injection showcase that comes after it on Friday, 10/16 (stay tuned for a full guide to metal stuff happening if you’re in town that week). If you like extreme metal, however, you’ll want to save your energy for the following night, when Artnoir Extreme comes to Brooklyn’s Nihil Gallery.
Metal Insider is one of the sponsors of the show, which is hosted by Artnoir Studio, who you might recognize as having designed Metal Insider’s awesome holiday shirt last year. The eight-band bill will be headlined by Finnish blackened death metal trio Archgoat, making a rare foray into America. New Jersey doom merchants Evoken and Russia’s Pseudogod are also on the bill, which is filled out by new York’s Arsantiqva,, Florida bands Promethean Horde and The Noctambulant, Agrath and Sentience. The show starts at 4pm, and you can pick up tickets here. This is not an official CMJ event, but it is one of the more extreme lineups to be playing in New York City the week of CMJ.
