Metal Insider’s Top 5 is a column where we count down the top five of…well basically anything.

Metal and porn go together like a scantily clad girl in an ’80s video. Both porn stars and musicians thrive on attention, have unusual schedules, and many hail from L.A. It takes a lot of energy and narcissism to put yourself out there the way both do (some more than others). Just ask Tommy Lee! And while the girls of Suicide Girls and Burning Angel are more on the emo and punk sides, respectively, we decided to make this week’s Top Five a list of the top five porn stars to cross over to metal, or vice versa.

5. Lynn Strait

Ok, we know what you’re thinking: “Lynn Strait? The singer from Snot?! He’s not a porn star!” Well, technically speaking the late Snot singer was not a porn star by profession. However, in the classic Backstage Sluts 2: No Ass No Pass, Strait starred in a sex scene with his wife and a “groupie.” The film may have featured interviews with members of Limp Bizkit and Fear Factory, but Strait was the only rock star to actually have sex in the film. That earns him lots of cred in the porn community.

4. Tera Wray

It was during Ozzfest 2007 when Wayne Static met his future wife (who was on the tour as a model for Hustler Lingerie). And though she has retired from the porn industry since tying the knot, Wray can always be spotted in her rock star hubby’s music videos. In fact, one might claim that she’s the source of Static X’s demise (becoming the Yoko Ono of nu metal). But hey, as long as she continues to make his hair stand on end…

3. Sasha Grey
Sasha has done more at age 23 than most people have their whole lives. Non porn-watchers (yeah right) might recognize her from last season on Entourage or the Steven Soderbergh movie The Girlfriend Experience. Porn watchers might be dismayed to know that she retired from porn earlier this year. Regardless, she pursued her porn career with an intellectual curiousness, and for someone that only graduated high school, comes off as much brainier than the typical porn actress. At any rate, she took her nom de porn from the lead singer of KMFDM (Sascha Konietzko), and has been on the record talking about how much she likes black metal. She also told Stereogum a few years back that Sunn))))’s Monoliths and Dimentions was one of her favorite albums of the year. It’ll be interesting to see what she does with her mainstream career, and also interesting to hear what happens with her “experimental goth band,” aTelecine.

2. Evan Seinfeld

The former Biohazard frontman was introduced to the world of porn by his now ex-wife Tera Patrick. What started off as starring in a few films with his wife quickly turned into a full time job, forming a production company with Patrick and becoming a legit porn star under the name Spyder Jonez (even though fans of the HBO prison drama Oz saw plenty of his wang on that show). Though he still dabbles in music, we imagine his focus has shifted towards the porn industry considering his recent departure from Biohazard (after already recording a new album with them).

1. Jasmin St. Claire

Though the queen of gang bangs has retired from the porn business, Claire may actually be the most involved in the metal scene out of the top 5. She’s the host of Metal’s Darkside, serves as a metal representative for Stay HeavyRoadie Crew Magazine and Yahoo Music, AND she works behind the scenes with companies such as Black Widow Management and Black Widow Publishing. Oh, and did we mention she’s a hot chick who loves King Diamond and vinyl records? Suck on that Evan Seinfeld! Oh wait, he doesn’t do those kinds of scenes.

Honorable Mention: Bobbi Starr

Not many porn stars can say they have a music degree and can play the piano. Well, not many porn stars who’ve won multiple AVN and XRCO awards and were named one of the 12 most popular porn stars by CNBC, that is. However, it’s her guest blogs for Metal Sucks that show her as the metal head she is.
