cannibal corpse paulWhen you think of the violent, grotesque and downright horrific imagery associated with the death metal scene, Cannibal Corpse is without a doubt one of the first band that comes to mind. While it’s sound and lyrics are unquestionably brutal, one of the key things that helped make the band such a major pioneer in the death metal scene is its ultraviolent (and often controversial) cover artwork.

While speaking with drummer Paul Maurkiewicz at Mayhem Fest’s stop in Camden, NJ earlier this month, we asked him to name his five favorite album covers that longtime collaborator Vince Locke has created for Cannibal Corpse’s catalogue. We’ll be posting our full interview with Maurkiewicz shortly, but click on the page tabs below to see which cover artwork made it onto his list.
