Studio Releases
Ne Obliviscaris , Urn (Season of Mist)
Urn is the highly anticipated third album from the Australian extreme progressive metal band Ne Obliviscaris. The band First album since the removal of bassist Cygnus from the band. They have release a music video for the first single, “Intra Venus.” A few years ago they made a Patreon, and have been using that as a means to support themselves as touring artists. One thing I found very cool that they did with it is for every member who had given at least $10 this year up to this month received a digital copy of the album a few days before the official release. Personally, I think this is a pretty interesting precedent for the band, I’ve been listening to my copy since Monday. They will be touring the U.S. starting November 1st, supported by Allegaeon, and if all goes well I hope to see them on the November 17th date in Cleveland. Urn is also album is available on vinyl and cassette.
The Used, The Canyon (Hopeless)
The Canyon is the seventh studio album from the American rock band The Used. Sixteen years into their career, this is their first studio album to not feature founding guitarist Quinn Allman. He has since been replaced by Justin Shekoski, who’s first real release with the group was their 2015 release Live & Acoustic at the Palace. Along with producer Ross Robinson (Dead Cross, Suicide Silence, Slipknot, etc), The Canyon was recorded between Studio 606 and Valentine Recording Studios in Los Angeles. Clocking at just under 79 minutes, the album is also the first double album of The Used’s career. Last month the band released a music video for the song “Over and Over Again,” and earlier this week we got a lyric video for “Rise Up Lights.” The album is also available on vinyl.
Winds Of Plague, Blood Of My Enemy (eOne Music/Good Fight Music)
Blood of my Enemy is the fifth studio album from the California death metal band Winds of Plague. This is the band’s first release not on Century Media Records, which released their previous four albums. It is also the group’s first release since their hiatus and reformation, which included replacing their two guitarists, bassist, and keyboard player, as well as getting back with their former drummer Art Cruz. Blood of my Enemy will be available on vinyl late next month.
Butcher Babies, Lilith (Century Media)
Lilith is the third album from the California metal band Butcher Babies. The album was produced by Steve Evetts (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Sepultura, Suicide Silence, etc) Before the recording of this album the band had parted ways with their founding drummer Chrissy Warner, who was replaced by Chase Brickenden. Chris had already been touring with the band, but it wasn’t made official until March this year. Leading up to the release, the band released a music video for the title track. According to the band he had recently gotten married and wanted to spend more time at home, parting on good terms. Butcher Babies is currently touring North America alongside Hollywood Undead, who also have an album out today. Lilith is also available on vinyl.
