June 06, 2025 Release Highlights:
Turnstile, Never Enough (Roadrunner):
The hardcore punks follow-up their breakout 2021 album Glow On with the release of their fourth studio effort, which is also the first to feature new guitarist Meg Mills. A film featuring all 14 songs from the album also just premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Orthodox, A Door Left Open (Century Media):
The hardcore band’s fourth studio album is a “fusion of chaotic rhythms, pushed-to-the-breaking-point riffing and explosively emotive vocals.”
Volbeat, God of Angels Trust (Republic/Universal):
According to vocalist Michael Poulsen, the hard rockers threw out the rulebook when writing their ninth studio album, saying, “In the past, I’ve taken a long time to write and obsessed over so many elements of the songs before finishing them. This time, I wanted to make a Volbeat record without thinking too much about it. Instead of following any kind of structure I said, ‘Okay, there are no rules. I can do anything I want. I can start with a chorus or do songs that are just a bunch of verses stacked on top of each other. Anything goes.’”
Katatonia, Nightmares As Extensions Of The Waking State (Napalm):
The Swedish heavy metal band introduces their new guitarists on their 13th studio effort, which their label describes as having “sonic landscapes that evoke dystopia, inner demons, purity, and beauty alike” that “stands as a testament to their enduring brilliance.”
King Parrot, A Young Person’s Guide To King Parrot (Housecore):
For their fourth studio album, the Aussie metal band releases their “most complete, aggressive and urgent” work to date, this time “carefully crafting their sound and leaving no stone-unturned when it came to delivering the final product” when it came to production.
