Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Wolves in Argyle’s Dave Holmes (vocals/guitar) as he’s been spending this time with his family.

What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?

Spending time with my family, writing new material for our next album and sleeping more than usual. I’ve also been testing new pedals, namely a few from EarthQuaker Devices like the Bit Commander, which I’m in love with.

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?

I’ve been listening to a ton of music and Native American Drums playlists on Pandora and YouTube. Classic rock has been the staple along with early metal influences like Mercyful Fate, Maiden, Slayer and Dio. I’ve been blasting Sound garden and TAD a bunch. Kind of digging Raketkanon too.

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?

Yes we’ve been making tons of food at home. This week we are making homemade Tamales. I think I’ve perfected apple pies and my outdoor grilling was put to the test lately with Tomahawk steaks. The result was kick ass! My lady is from Brooklyn, so she has been sharing some amazing back of the book Italian dishes.

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?

As an avid fisherman, mostly bass fishing, I watch the WFN and Deadliest Catch a ton. As far as series go, I binged on Ozark and Peaky Blinders. Some reading of Bukowski and Voltaire as well.

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?

The best advice I have is to stay safe and follow guidelines, people are getting infected and dying. These are sad times for humanity, on the Civil Rights front as well. Take walks and finish projects you may have started and cherish the people you have in your life. If you’re alone, try finding a new passion you can do from within the confines of your home and grab a physical or digital copy of our new album Dangereux!
