Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Ruff Majik’s Johni Holliday (guitar/vocals) as he’s been spending this time watching a lot of documentaries.
What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?
Working on the new album mostly, making music videos, etc. But also, I’ve been watching a lot of documentaries.
Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?
Been revisiting a lot of Billy Joel and Mark Lanegan recently. As far as new releases go, I’ve been very into the new Run The Jewels album, and the new Elephant Tree.
A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?
I’d say the most interesting thing I’ve made was a pizza-burger-nacho combo (it was delicious). I’ve also been making mead.
In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?
Like I said, I’ve been watching a lot of documentaries, mostly music documentaries (like Desert Age, Slow Southern Steel, Such Hawks Such Sounds, etc). I’ve also watched the new F Is For Family, and I quite enjoyed Space Force. Movie wise, The Gentleman was pretty good, but other than that there haven’t been very many new releases that interested me.
What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?
Try to do an exercise everyday – I know it sounds lame, but it really helps to improve your mood.
