Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with T-Rex Marathon as they’ve been spending this time working.
What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?
We were in the mixing and mastering process for our new album, so we spent a lot of time listening to our own music to make sure it was perfect before being able to release it. A lot of us work from home now so we’ve been lucky enough to be able to keep working through the pandemic. We’ve also been writing new music that we’re already very excited about!
Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?
There have been a lot of new albums and live “quarantine” sessions to come out. New Haken, Four Year Strong, Dance Gavin Dance, Neck Deep, and many others have been some great cuts to come out since lockdowns started.
A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?
Most of us are pretty adept in the kitchen actually! Jeremy’s partner has been growing a garden, which has inspired him to make a super steak sauce made of baby tomatoes. Alex started a plant-based diet, which is cool. He eats lots of beans. So many beans. Darien has been experimenting with different types of cheesy casseroles, and Aaron has spent a considerable amount of money perfecting his rib recipe. Adam doesn’t cook much.
In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?
While the world may have stopped, Netflix has not. A big part of our band practice usually starts by discussing the shows we watch and then try to convince the rest of the band to watch them too. Space Force is one we all watched and spent hours discussing. Gaming has been a big part of our routines as well; Darien discovered PC gaming, Alex decided to invest in the entire Halo franchise, Jeremy spent hundreds and hundreds of hours playing The Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima, and Adam has been playing a multitude of indie titles. He essentially lives on Steam. And Aaron? Well, he has a fancy version of Solitaire on his phone, so, that’s what he’s been up to.
What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?
Find what makes you happy and focus on that. It’s been an especially challenging time this spring and summer and we need to be able to hold onto the things that are important in our lives and that helps us keep going through the storm.
