Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Fuck the Facts’ Mathieu Vilandre as he’s been working out and practicing.

What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?

I try to workout and practice every day. I made sure to update my recording hardware so I could spend a decent amount of time writing music. I’m pretty stoked about that. I watched the Habs beat the Pens in the NHL playoffs. Did some work on the house. Now, I spend most of my time looking for work and doing interviews.

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?

I’ve really enjoyed the new Nile, Black Dahlia Murder, and Napalm Death albums. I also really got into Der Weg eine Freiheit.

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?

Lots of fish on the BBQ, we got some great rainbow trout and salmon around here. I just try to eat healthy but it can be harder during quarantine, so many damn snacks…

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?

Watched a lot of true crime documentaries on Netflix and a whole lot of streamers on Twitch. I also tried Warzone but I’m obviously too old for that shit. Just started a book about personal finance, real fun grownup stuff.

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?

Stay safe and stay active while protecting yourself and others. One thing that really helped me earlier on was to have some kind of schedule, it helped me inject a bit of sense and structure into my days. Especially if you are essentially stuck home like me. Ultimately, don’t put any unnecessary pressure on your shoulders, we have to deal with enough shit as it is. Cheers.
