Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with John D. Norten of Blue Eyed Christ as he’s been spending this time finishing his new album.

What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?

When we first went into lockdown in Los Angeles, I was finishing the Mixing and Mastering for my new album from my home studio anyway so it wasn’t too big of a deal. After that I took a breather and started streaming a lot of content, cooking, activities like that. Now that I’m back in Promo mode finishing videos, photos, interviews, etc.

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?

I like the Sexy Dirty Techno playlist on Spotify. I turn on the colored lights and play it loud on the bedroom sound system and dance around.

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?

I’ve been doing a ton of cooking but it’s mostly the same things. I make a lot of different meat on my George Foreman grill, vegetable side dishes like mini sweet peppers and rice…that and Frozen Pizza. I’m either all in on cooking or not at all during the stay at home.

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?

I have a vintage video game collection set up in the living room, so lots of Atari, Vectrex, Intellivison, Colecovision. Regarding streaming, the same Netflix and Amazon content that are in everyone’s zeitgeist. Ozark, lots of docs, comedy specials.

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?

We’ve been in isolation for a while now, so my advice to anybody is to use this time to stay creative! Learn something new you’ve always wanted to do, try painting or coloring. It has been fun seeing all the various Artists live streaming on various platforms.
