Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.
This week’s highest new metal release comes from Parkway Drive. The Aussie’s third album Deep Blue has an extremely impressive first week, ranking in at #39 on the charts! Congrats are definitely due to the metalcore group, and with their upcoming stint on this year’s Warped Tour, don’t be surprised to see them continuing to do well. Speaking of which, it would appear that Warped Tour has been making a big impact on the charts this week, with a few bands appearing on the tour showing signs of increased sales. This includes an impressive debut from Haste the Day and sales spikes for Eyes Set To Kill and iwrestledabearonce (not to mention the crabcore and screamo bands finding its way on the charts). Guess the metalcore is getting some love at the touring Punk festival this summer.

The Motor City Madman’s new compilation album has an impressive first week. And seeing has how cheap the album is being sold for over at Amazon.com (was 76 cents per song in honor of 4th of July this past weekend), expect to see it keep selling.
Haste the Day, Attack of the Wolf King (Solid State) #69, 5,700
It might be the band’s first release without founding members Devin and Brennan Chaulk, but the Christian metalcore group has a good first week.
Papa Roach, To Be Loved: Best Of Papa Roach (Geffen) #77, 5,500
“Cut my life into pieces. This is my last resort …” Hopefully this will cause Melinda to have this song stuck in her head once again upon reading (sorry Melinda, I had to).
Mastodon, Jonah Hex: Music from the Motion Picture (Warner Bros.) #200, 2,500 sold
Literally just made it onto the top 200. Is it sad that we already had a hunch that this digital-only soundtrack would have a similar fate to its movie?
Children 18:3, Rain’s ‘a Comin’ (Tooth & Nail) 1,250 sold
They may be more on the punk side, but these Christian boys have an impressive first week as well.
And Hell Followed With, Proprioception (Earache) 1,030 sold
Apparently these metal dudes aren’t afraid to fight and defend themselves.
Rhapsody of Fire, The Frozen Tears of Angels (Nuclear Blast) 820 sold
Decent debut, especially considering that the album has already been available in Europe for a few months now.
Witchery, Witchkrieg (Century Media) 580 sold
It’s the first release in four years from the supergroup that features members from The Haunted, Arch Enemy and Opeth.
Sabaton, Coat of Arms (Nuclear Blast) 450 sold
Another album that’s been available in Europe prior to making its way to the States, but not as big of a splash on the charts.

Ozzy Osbourne, Scream (Epic) #11, 28,860 sold
Ozzy’s arguably best album since No More Tears remains in the top 20, even with a 65% decrease in its second week.
Godsmack, Oracle (Universal) #43, 10,200 sold
After 9 weeks on the charts, Godsmack’s fifth studio album still remains in the top 50.
AC/DC, AC/DC: Iron Man 2 (Columbia) #51 8,000 sold
Would be the best selling “movie soundtrack” … if it wasn’t for Twighlight. Errrr.
Bullet For My Valentine, Fever (Jive) #81, 5,500 sold
Considering that BFMV isn’t doing any touring in the States during the Summer, this album is having a strong run on the U.S. charts.
Five Finger Death Punch, War Is The Answer (Prospect Park) #106, 4,500
Actually experiences a slight jump in sales, just 3 days before Mayhem Fest kicks off.
Slash, Slash (Dick Hayd) #110, 4,400 sold
Slash experiences an even bigger jump up the charts and a 23% increase in sales.
Deftones, Diamond Eyes (Reprise) #112, 4,300 sold
They just keep adding U.S. tour dates to their already busy Summer itinerary.
Motley Crue, Greatest Hits (Motley Records) #160, 3,840 sold
Wait, this experienced a 23% increase in sales to? Really?
Danzig, Deth Red Sabaoth (Evilive/The End) #131, 3,800 sold
May have experienced a 67% decrease in its second week, but still an already impressive run for Danzig.
Attack Attack!, Attack Attack! (Rise) #161, 3,200 sold
Think this album will only go down in sales? Wait till they start their stint on the Warped Tour tomorrow.
As I Lay Dying, The Powerless Rise (Metal Blade) #174, 2,850 copies
Fell down the charts ranking wise a bit, but selling pretty much around the same as last week.
Pierce The Veil, Selfish Machines (Equal Vision), 2,000 sold
59% decrease during their second week.
Eyes Set To Kill, Broken Frames (Break Silence) 1,000 sold
A big 58% increase, and they haven’t even started playing at the Warped Tour yet.
Kingdom of Sorrow, Behind the Blackest Tears (Relapse) 850 sold
Hanging tough! Not doing bad at all, especially since the majority of touring they appear to be doing for the album will take place at Ozzfest.
In Fear and Faith, Imperial (Rise) 790 sold
Anybody else notice an increase of Christian metal/rock releases lately?
Nevermore, The Obsidian Conspiracy (Century Media) 770 sold
Another steep decrease for the Seattle prog thrashers.
iwrestledabearonce, It’s All Happening (Century Media) 700 sold
A huge 79% increase in sales! Guess some people wanted the remixed version of the album.

They are still on the charts? Wowsers!!!
Melvins, The Bride Screamed Murder, (Ipecac) 400 sold
Had an awesome first week and a long run, but it appears the Melvins might be slowly slipping off soon.
