Last October, in the midst of Dez Fafara spending more time with his former band, Coal Chamber, DevilDriver lost their guitarist and drummer. Both were soon replaced by guitarsist Neal Tiemann of Burn Halo, and drummer Austin D’Amond from Chimaira.
Since then they’ve been hard at work, and as Fafara posted recently on Instagram (see below), they’ll be in the studio this fall working on a brand new album.
Said Fafara:
“17 New DEVILDRIVER Tracks – These are just working titles obviously until I put Vox down but we are Ready to turn up the HEAT! SO FOLLOW THE BOYS-@nealfingtiemann @fnaustile83 @michaelspreitzer They have been very busy – recording happens OCTOBER & NOVEMBER with @marklewis720 – THIS MUSIC IS SO SHREDDING !”
This news confirms was Fafara said back in January:
“DevilDriver will be back, make no mistake of that, in 2016 with a new record which we are already writing, tours around the world and the massive pits you have all gotten used to.”
Coal Chamber will be doing a headlining tour with Fear Factory through July and August, then it’ll be time for Fafara and the rest of DevilDriver to work on their seventh studio album, their first since 2013s Winter Kills (and first with their new label Napalm Records).
