Faith No More promised that they’d release the single “Superhero” as a 7-inch on March 17, followed by a digital release on March 31, in anticipation of their new album Sol Invictus (coming out on May 19). Well, surprise! Now the new single is online!

The band teamed up with Marvel Comics to premiere “Superhero”, which you can now stream in the video above. And as an added bonus, the video stream includes an image that might be the cover artwork to Sol Invictus (Faith No More’s first album in nearly 18 years, in case you forgot). Granted, we’ve technically already heard Faith No More perform “Superhero” (along with additional new tracks “Motherfucker”, “Cone Of Shame” and possibly “Matador”), but that doesn’t make hearing the studio version any less exciting. It’s definitely more upbeat/in-your-face than what we’ve (presumably) have heard from Sol Invictus so far, and will certainly please even any longtime fan of Mike Patton’s.

Give “Superhero” a listen in the video above, and check out Marvel’s interview with the band’s Billy Gould online.

[UPDATE: The image seen in the video above is indeed the cover artwork of Sol Invictus. The cover reportedly features an image from Ossian Brown, a member of Coil and Cyclobe who also published the book “Haunted Air” in 2010.]
