As 2014 draws to a close, we check in with the Metal Insider staff to see what new albums got them the most excited. Metal Insider’s contributors have been listing their top ten albums of 2014. We’ve heard from Bram, Zach, Kodi, Matt, Nick, Chip, Anthony and Chris. Now it’s time for Seth Werkheiser’s list of what he listened to the most this year. We’ll be compiling all of our lists into one master list and presenting you our top ten albums of 2014 later this week.
10) Unteachers, A Human Comedy
The latest project by Stephen Sarro of Tantrum of the Muse, who some might remember from back in the late 90s / early 2000s in the Christian metal underground scene. Like Modern Mu$ick 2000, I looked forward to A Human Comedy like a new Faith No More record and I wasn’t let down.
Key Track: “Swim with a Knife”
9) Earth, Primitive And Deadly
The rotation of the planet slows when listening to Earth, which is scientific fact. Primitive And Deadly is magnificent, grinding time and space to a halt upon every listen. I saw Earth earlier this year in Atlanta, GA and they put on a fantastic performance.
Key Track: “Torn By The Fox Of The Crescent Moon”
8) Cannabis Corpse, From Wisdom to Baked
As a bass player I keep an ear out for sweet bass line in metal, and Landphil doesn’t let me down. I’ve only recently gotten into Cannabis Corpse (I know, for shame!), so I was stoked for this new album and was not let down.
Key Track: “Individual Pot Patterns”
