yautja4) Yautja, Songs of Descent

This years Songs of Descent was like last years Abandon all Life by Nails for me. So heavy, and yet still so memorable. And like Floor (later in this list), Songs of Descent is a 14 track affair and a complete album from start to finish.

Key Track: “a crawl”

helmsalee3) Helms Alee, Sleepwalking Sailors

These melodies have been haunting me since early 2014 when it came out. Sleepwalking Sailors is filled with dirty bass lines and intriguing songs that held my attention all year.

Key track: “Dangling Modifers”

floor-608x6082) Floor, Oblation

There aren’t many 14 song albums I love from beginning to end, but the thick sludge mixed with the sweet syrup of the all the melodies make Oblation one of my top albums of the year. If this were a tape I would have worn it out twice this year.

Key Track: “Homegoings and Transitions”
