Satyricon_photoLooking forward to seeing Satyricon at the Knotfest and Housecore Horror Film Fest this fall? That’s not going to happen. The Norwegian band have dropped off of both festivals. They’ve got a pretty solid, if slightly cryptic, reason as to why they can’t though, which they explained on their Facebook page:

Dear U.S fans. We regret to inform that Satyricon will not perform at Knotfest in San Bernardino, CA and Horror Fest in Austin, TX in October 2014. The reasons for not being able to perform at these two festivals are both pragmatic ones and entirely different from each other. Satyricon will now shift its attention towards the writing of a new album, re-editing the footage from the «Live at the Opera» live album/DVD and another project that will be announced at a later stage. It is important for the band that the U.S fans understand that you are far from forgotten and that the band look forward to come over for a full scale U.S tour as soon as it is possible. You deserve it.

The band’s last album, which was self-titled, came out last year. The last one before it, The Age of Nero, had been released five years prior. Looks like we won’t have to wait as long for a follow up. But what’s the other project that isn’t related to a new album or re-editing of their live DVD? Guess we’ll have to wait to find out. Meanwhile, in Austin, the Housecore Horror Film Fest wasted no time in replacing them with Napalm Death and Origin. No word on a replacement for Knotfest, at least not yet.
