Hailing from Hartford, Connecticut, Sever the Drama recently released their second album Chasing Shadows. The band’s sophomore album, and first in four years, draws heavily from their influences such as Pantera, Lamb of God, and Sevendust to create a praiseworthy metal album.
Although still unsigned, they recently caught the attention of Hatebreed’s own Jamey Jasta, enough so that he picked them as his ‘Pick from the Pit’ on Full Metal Jackie Radio before Chasing Shadows was officially released. They also make an appearance on the Hatewear Inc.’s For the Headbangers 2014 compilation CD, which also features bands like Suicide Silence, Machine Head, DevilDriver, and Crowbar, and are being given away for free at this year’s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. If you want to check out what got Jasta’s attention, look no further that the featured track, the brilliantly-titled “Wilson Phillips Anselmo.” It’s clear these guys owe as much to whiskey-soaked Clutch tunes as they do Pantera, and the New England metal sound of their metal brethren in Shadows Fall, who they’ve shared the stage with, as well.
If you like what you hear, you can give them a like on Facebook, subscribe to their YouTube page, follow them on Twitter, and check out their website. Chasing Shadows is also available for purchase on CDBaby in both physical and digital formats. Their debut album, Vested Interest, as well as the new one, are both available digitally on Amazon, but only in digital format.
Sever the Drama will be playing a show at the Webster Theater in their hometown of Hartford on August 15th, opening for Powerman 5000 and Hed PE.
