kissshirtEarlier this year , KISS were photographed for designer John Varvatos’ Spring and Summer campaign. Inspired by the Dressed to Kill album cover, the band (well, Paul, Gene and those other two guys) were shot in Brooklyn’s Dumbo neighborhood in suits that probably cost more than the recording sessions for their first album 40 years ago. Now the designer, who you might remember as having taken over the former location of CBGB’s for a retail store, has unveiled a T-shirt to tie in with Varvatos’ Spring/Summer campaign starring KISS. And it’ll only set you back $118.

It shouldn’t be that surprising that Varvatos, who’s featured Alice Cooper, Chris Cornell, Jimmy Page and others in his campaigns, would turn to a mass appeal rock band that’s been around for 40 years. And given that many that grew up worshiping KISS are now in their 50s, it’s not out of the realm of impossibility that the designer will move some expensive t-shirts to people that traded cocaine for Rogaine. Then there’s the Chris Brown types that buy clothes for fashion reasons only without knowing anything about what they’re wearing represents. On the other hand, $118 for a KISS shirt.

If you’re inspired and want the best (most expensive t-shirt), you can get the best (most expensive t-shirt ) here.
