Metal’s oldest soldier has passed away at age 87, the Western Daily Press reports.
Owen Brown, an avid fan of Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Kiss and Judas Pries spent his final days at his home in Herefordshire, UK where he blared his metal albums at his own volume. His family played the Megadeth song “Skin Of My Teeth” during Brown’s funeral procession out of Weobley church Tuesday, according to the WDP.
Brown is survived by his three daughters, Margaret, Ann and Jenny and his two sons, Neil and Michael. Apparently, none of them know where Brown’s passion for metal came from.
‘‘When all the kids were at home they would often ask me to stop playing it or turn it down but it’s only worth listening to at full blast,” Brown had said during an interview the news outlet conducted for a previous story on the man’s unconventional musical tastes.
Megadeth posted a message on their website Sunday offering their sentiments.
We would like to express our deepest condolences on the passing of Megadeth’s oldest and most cherished fan, Owen Brown. You will be missed.
