Geoff Tate’s “all-star” version of Queensryche has already gone through its first lineup change (and they haven’t even performed together yet). However, this shakeup isn’t slowing down Tate, as he’s announced plans to perform Operation: Mindcrime in its entirety with his lineup of Queensryche.
Tate’s Queensryche will celebrate the landmark concept album’s 25th anniversary with a North American tour in Spring 2013. While it’s unclear if there will be a replacement for guitarist Glen Drover, but it appears that Tate’s version of the group still includes bassist Rudy Sarzo (ex-Quiet Riot/Ozzy Osbourne/Dio), drummer Bobby Blotzer (ex-Ratt), guitarist Kelly Gray (who was in Queensryche from 1998 to 2001), and keyboardist Randy Gane. Tate also promises special guest appearances and plenty of surprises on the tour.
Granted, Queensryche has performed Operation: Mindcrime in its entirety numerous times (back when there was only one version of the group). Still, we’d prefer to hear Tate and his lineup perform classic material than anything from Dedicated To Chaos. Plus, it’ll be cool to see what “surprises” they have in store.
