Bay Area titans Metallica only have a few dates remaining on their  North American WorldWired tour and have now announced six Australian and New Zealand shows and have invited Slipknot as their special guests. For those who are interested in visiting New Zealand or Australia, now could be the time as the band has given us plenty of time to book a flight since the run begins on October 17th in Perth. Tickets go on sale to the general public on March 18th. Fan Club pre-sales begin on Tuesday, March 12th at 1PM local time for Legacy Members and 2PM local time for Fifth Members.

Metallica expressed their excitement:

“It’s about time!! We’re more than excited to announce that we’ll be heading back to Australia and New Zealand in October. It’s been over six years since we last visited Australia and nine years since we were lucky enough to set foot in New Zealand… we’re long overdue!

This trip represents another new adventure for us during the WorldWired tour; it will be the first time we have ever headlined stadiums in Australia and New Zealand. To help us celebrate, our friends in Slipknot will be joining us for the journey… six cities, black tickets, enhanced experiences, free albums and downloads, and more!!”

Tour Dates:

10/17 Perth, WA @ Optus Stadium
10/20 Adelaide, SA @ Adelaide Oval
10/22 Melbourne, VIC @ Marvel Stadium
10/26 Sydney, NSW @ ANZ Stadium
10/29 Brisbane, QLD @ QSAC
10/31 Auckland, NZ @ Mt. Smart Stadium

Seeing Metallica and Slipknot share the same stage will be an incredible experience. Speaking of unique lineups and experiences, Slipknot will be headlining North America this summer with Volbeat, Gojira, and Behmoth in support of their new album scheduled to arrive on August 9th.
