Sometimes, a false report is more entertaining than what really happened. As much as we enjoyed the idea that two elderly men escaped a nursing home facility to attend Wacken Open Air this past weekend, the Associated Press has reported that did not happen.
Itzehoe police spokesman Peter Berndt has clarified yesterday (7th) that the two men, who were 58 and 59 years old, left a home for people with mental health issues to party in the town of Wacken. While their festivities took place near the festival, it did not involve them moshing to Cannibal Corpse and so forth.
Festival-goers were the ones who placed the police call after finding the two at a “helpless, disoriented and intoxicated” state while waiting for a bus at the main street stop after the buses stopped running for the night at 3AM.
Eventually, the two returned to the facility and sadly, did not risk headbanging or crowd surfing during their wild runaway adventure.
