Waclaw Kieltyka (guitarist) and Michal Lysejko (drummer) from Decapitated made their Superior Court appearance in Spokane, Washington this past Friday (13). According to The Spokesman-Review, Superior Court Judge Annette Plese set their bail to $100,000 each and both had to surrender their passports to their attorneys. Earlier it was reported that Kieltyka was charged with first-degree kidnapping and second-degree rape while Lysejko was charged with first-degree kidnapping and third-degree rape. The incident took place after their show at the Pin on August 31st when two women were invited onto their tour bus.
Judge Plese also ordered that there should be no communication between the band members. The members were together for a month during their arrest in California, which makes this separation difficult. Kieltyka’s attorney, Stephen Graham said that the restriction would be “deemed inhumane by international law.”
Graham continued:
“If they are kept apart they, in essence, will be held in solitary confinement. Because they don’t speak English very well.”
During their appearance, the prosecution made clear that both Kielyka and Lyesejko had no criminal history in America. The remaining members of the Polish death metal band, Rafal Piotrowski (vocalist) and Hubert Wiecek (bassist) are both scheduled for their first court appearance this Thursday (19) in Spokane. All four members continue to refute the charges against them, claiming their innocence. Based on this update, this case could take a long time before any conviction is made. It’s best to hold off all judgments until they are found innocent or guilty.
