In a ceremony before the televised portion of the Grammy Awards, Megadeth picked up their first-ever Grammy Award for Dystopia. Dave Mustaine seemed happy, saying that he’d spoken to Kenny G about being nominated so many times without winning, but Kenny had been nominated without winning over 20 times. He also stated “it’s a little weird metal ended up being category 69, but somebody’s got a sense of humor.” Randomly and somewhat hysterically, the house band played Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” as the band took the stage. Also, it’s nice to see Dirk Verbeuren onstage, and probably something we might not have seen if he’d remained in Soilwork. Cage The Elephant won Best Rock Album, making Gojira 0 for 2 in Grammys.
