If you’re a fan of The Dillinger Escape Plan vocalist Greg Puciato, but don’t like all the pesky metal, then you’ll want to give a listen to The Black Queen. The project that he formed with Joshua Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv and Steven Alexander, traffics in downtempo electronica and ’80s-sounding jams. In addition to “The End Where We Start,” We’ve gotten a chance to hear some tracks from their forthcoming album, Fever Daydream, and if you’e a fan of freestyle music from the ’80s and more moody electronic music, then you’ll definitely dig this.

The band have released a video for the “12” extended mix” of the song “Ice to Never,” with visual accompaniment from Nine Inch Nails collaborator Rob Sheridan. If you didn’t already know that The Black Queen is the polar opposite of TDEP, then maybe the main visual, which is an upside down pyramid, or the polar opposite of Ire Works‘ album cover, will tip you off. This is indeed, a longer version of “Ice To Never” with a lot of the structure taken out of it. We’ll presumably get to hear the 7″ single version of the song before too long. In the meantime, don’t expect metal.
