Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.

We don’t have too many debuts for you this week, though what we do have is pretty cool. We’re mainly talking about the fact that Mr. Philip H. Anselmo has released his first genuine solo album to a solid debut. It is a tad strange that this is actually a solo album since Phil is usually involved in so many other projects. After all, it’s not like he’s been a slouch, what with the split EP with Warbeast earlier this year and the Down EP last. We’ve also got sales from doom legends, sales for summer fests, and sales for albums that have popped up out of nowhere.

Notable Debuts

Philip H. Anselmo and the Illegals, Walk Through Exits Only (Housecore) #35, 8,700 sold

The one and only Phil Anselmo gets a solid debut with his new solo album, with more sales expect when he comes around on tour with Warbeast.

Defeater, Letters Home (Bridge Nine) #70, 5,125 sold

This is the third album from this Massachusetts hardcore band.

Trouble, The Distortion Field (FRW) 760 sold
