If you were one of the lucky people to attend Chicago’s Riot Fest this past weekend, you got to witness Rob Zombie and his band perform White Zombie’s Astro Creep 2000 album in its entirety for the first time ever. And while that might have stoked nostalgia for a lot of fans that liked Zombie before his band went by his name only, don’t expect Rob to have similar nostalgic feelings. In a since-deleted Instagram post, a fan asked the singer to reunite White Zombie.
“Please, for the love of God, reunite White Zombie. The reasons you’ve given in the past for not wanting to do it… honestly make no sense. First you said that reunions are never good, and it’s best to let sleeping corpses lie. Hello… GNR? Misfits? Reunions are beloved bands are totally welcomed and completely awesome. a white zombie reunion has zero chance of being bad.
The second reason you have is that your crowds these days “barely react” to the WZ songs. Well, maybe they would react more if those songs weren’t abandoned. I can promise you that thousands of people still love and cherish those albums you need in the 80s and 90s. a White Zombie tour would be a huge success.
I love you Rob, but I gotta be honest.. I think the truth is that you just think you’re too good to pick up the phone, call up Sean and the guys… and get that ball rolling again. I don’t know if there’s some sort of Sean/Sherri jealously thing that caused you guys to break up in the first place… I mean it’s kinda funny you broke up white zombie but took the drummer with you… but either way… just do a white zombie reunion. no have no legit reason not to.”
Zombie responded to the fan in the comments, saying he had no plans to do anything with his former band:
“always amazed at how people can speak with such authority on subjects they know zero about. I have many legit reasons, just because you don’t know them does not mean they don’t exist. Everything is not everybody’s business.”
At least he responded, but he did so in a pretty oblique manner.

It seems a little like he’s avoiding any answering any questions. We may never know if it actually is a result of Zombie and Yseult’s relationship ending as to why the band broke up, but if the reception of the Riot Fest crowd and the impassioned plea from a White Zombie fan is any indication, there’s plenty of demand for a White Zombie reunion. And for him to actually cover an album by his former band, yet still deny the fans, Yseult and original guitarist J. Yuenger the satisfaction of seeing the original lineup reunite is disappointing.
Meanwhile, Yeunger himself was asked his thoughts about Zombie playing the album, asking if he’d been offered to join them. His response again suggests that there’s no rush to get the band back together.
