Hall Of Fame 2014 fan ballotLast week, USA Today and Rolling Stone’s “fan ballot” voting poll for the 2014 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction closed. And the fans have spoken: They want KISS in the Hall Of Fame.

KISS topped the fan vote with 17.22% (239,417 votes), followed by Nirvana with 15.69% (218,155 votes), Deep Purple with 11.93% (165,828 votes), YES with 10.88% (151,238 votes), and Hall And Oates with 8.1% (112,673 votes). These five will comprise the “fan’s ballot,” which counts as one of the 600 ballots that determine the Hall Of Fame’s Class of 2014.

So does this mean that KISS will finally be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame? Well… not entirely. As mentioned, the “fan’s ballot” only counts for one vote amongst 600 ballots. While the Hall Of Fame would look incredibly silly if they didn’t end up inducting the “fan’s top pick”, the Hall Of Fame has proven that they don’t exactly care about looking silly. But for KISS to get inducted before Nirvana, both a fan and critical favorite that influenced an entire genre (grunge) while killing another (hair metal), would be kind of ridiculous. Here’s hoping, though, that the voting influences at least a few more industry folks voting.
