Last week, The Funeral Pyre’s John Strachan revealed that he was Early Graves new singer. In case you were skeptical, Early Graves performed their first show with their new frontman this past Saturday in Los Angeles. The show was also their first since the van accident that killed Makh Daniels last Summer.
Early Graves also released an official statement before Saturday night’s show confirming that Strachan has joined the band, saying:
“So I’m sure that most of you that are interested in the band have already read, but I feel like we should probably say something because we are getting real good at being silent about our band. John Strachan is our new vocalist.
There is no way to replace Makh Daniels, and in a lot of ways he’ll never be ‘replaced’. His voice was huge and his lyrics were amazing and he was one of the funniest dudes I have ever had the pleasure to be around, and we miss our friend more than you could possibly imagine.
The last year has been difficult on all of us, however we are pressing forward with a close friend and a fantastic singer. We are incredibly excited about how our new songs (yes that means we are writing a new album) are sounding and stoked to be playing all together again (yes we will be touring and playing shows again).
We make our official ‘live’ debut with John today, August 13th, at The Power Of the Riff festival at the Echo/Echoplex in LA and The Power Of The Riff festival in San Francisco at the Mezzanine on Tuesday.
Thanks to all our friends and families and people that encouraged us to press on, you mean everything to us.”
Video of Early Graves’ first show with Strachan can be seen above. Their next show will be tomorrow night (16) in San Francisco.
