The Jimmy Kimmel Live! feature of Mashup Mondays got their start earlier this year, so Stone Temple Pilots performing with singer Joss Stone had to have been planned months ago. It’s just coincidence, then, that the day after announcing their split with Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington Stone Temple Pilots appears on national TV with a brand new singer.

They performed “Interstate Love Song,” from their second album Purple, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts back in 1994 when it came out. Purple went on to be certified 6x Platinum in 2001.

Music is written for a new album, but Stone Temple Pilots needs a new singer again (they fired Scott Weiland back in 2013). “We have had the fortune of playing with some very talented singers over the last few months,” said the band on their website, “and will continue to do so until each of us feels and knows when the right person arrives.”
