Annie Erin Clark, better known as St. Vincent, seems like a far cry from anything metal related. As it turns out, she grew up listening to metal legends and has even admitted to slyly paying tribute to one of her favorite guitarists on her new album: Dimebag Darrell. In the video above, starting at about the 10:00 mark, St. Vincent talks about how she grew up in the suburbs of Texas listening to Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and then gives the interviewer this little tidbit:

Love Pantera. Fucking love Dimebag Darrell. Love his guitar playing. There’s a song on the record called “Bring Me Your Loves,” that — I probably shouldn’t reveal it — but I was listening to a lot of Turkish folk music and Pantera, and there’s a riff in there that is a little tip of the hat to “Cowboys From Hell.”

We’ve included the track for you to listen to below so you can hear the influence for yourself. It just goes to show not only how Dimebag’s guitar playing influenced so many, but that when it comes to lovers of metal you really can’t judge a book by it’s cover.
