Last night, Slayer played their first show since the death of guitarist Jeff Hanneman. The show took place at the Impact Fest in Warsaw, Poland. Exodus guitarist  Gary Holt once again filled in for the fallen band member, who died of liver disease on May 2. But it was also their first show back with Paul Bostaph, who played with Slayer from 1992-2001. Bostaph also used to play in Exodus, so he was right at home on stage with guitarist Holt. Slayer is currently slated to play 35 dates in Europe and South America, which include headlining shows as well as festival appearances.

Regarding the show and the addition of Bostaph, frontman Tom Araya had this to say:

“Paul’s a great drummer and a good friend, and we’re very happy that he’s decided to rejoin the band. We’re still pretty numb from the loss of Jeff, but we don’t want to disappoint our European and South American fans, and we need to begin moving forward… Having Paul back in the band makes that a whole lot easier.”
