Being a YouTube celebrity must be exhausting. Not only do you have the entirety of the internet to compete with, you also have to keep outdoing yourself. Thankfully, Rob Scallon has been able to do continue to innovate, from Slayer on a banjo to writing a metal song with no notes. Now he’s taken to writing songs without ever having heard a note. Using musical notation via a program Guitar Pro, he used musical notation to compose the song in two hours. It’s pretty interesting to see him compose the music, deliver it to collaborators without having heard what it sounds like. It’s actually, of course, pretty good. He explains that the riffs that he programmed in were harder to play than he’d thought they would be, but it seems like a good way to try to write music – especially if you’re as experienced as Scallon is.
