Gothic doom giants Paradise Lost have announced their overall seventeenth studio album, Ascension, is scheduled to arrive on September 19 via Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2020’s Obsidian was produced by guitarist Gregor Mackintosh and mixed and mastered by Lawrence Mackrory. Ascension features the haunting artwork The Court of Death by George Frederic Watts, reflecting the record’s somber tone. The group has unveiled the first single and video for “Silence Like the Grave.”
Ascension was recorded at Black Planet Studios in the UK and NBS/Wasteland Studios in Sweden. Paradise Lost will support the release with festival appearances alongside King Diamond this summer, followed by the “Ascension of Europe” tour this fall. Tickets are available at this location.
