Robert Trujillo may be known as Metallica’s bassist nowadays, but for a while he was better known as Ozzy Osbourne’s bassist. Following stints in Suicidal Tendencies and Infectious Grooves, Trujillo joined Ozzy’s band in the mid-90s before joining that San Francisco garage band in 2003. During his time in Ozzy’s band, he appeared on Down To Earth, Live At Budokan and even the 2002 reissues of Blizzard Of Ozz and Diary Of A Madman (which caused an uproar from fans and critics when management had Trujillo rerecord original bassist Bob Daisley’s parts). But in the latest installment of Vans’ Classic Tales series, Trujillo recalls his first encounter with Ozzy during his days in Infectious Grooves (just in time for their reunion).

As wild as Trujillo’s story is, we somehow have no trouble believing that Ozzy tackled his then-bassist’s girlfriend in the hallways of a studio and began biting her calf. Watch Trujillo’ animated recollection of meeting Ozzy above. And for the hell of it, watch the entire Live At Budokan performance below.
