It’s been a hell of a week for Metallica. This past Thursday, as they were getting set to play their only U.S. show of the year in Minneapolis, Lars Ulrich took the opportunity to debut a new song, “Hardwired,” on radio station 93X. They also announced their long-awaited tenth album, a double-album called Hardwired… To Self Destruct, due out on November 18th. It wasn’t that much of a stretch to think that they might debut the song live at the U.S. Bank Stadium show this past Saturday, and not only did they do that, but they also revealed professionally shot footage of the song’s debut. While some armchair internet quarterbacks have critiqued the new song saying there’s no way Lars could keep up live, the band did an admirable job.
