For the past few years, NYC band Life of Agony had been idle, but earlier this year, they reformed once again to announce that they’d be playing a handful of festivals in Europe. The first one took place this past Friday (8) at the Alcatraz Hard Rock and Metal Festival in Kortijk, Belgium. The band, of course, have undergone one big change since their last hiatus in 2011, namely lead vocalist Mina Caputo’s transformation from male to female. While it’s a little jarring initially to see Mina, she still owns the music and puts on a great performance, and the crowd in Belgium is certainly appreciative. Most Life of Agony fans seem to be nonplussed about Mina’s transformation, as long as it’s not effecting the sound of the band, and it certainly isn’t from the looks of it here. The band will be playing two more festivals this coming weekend in Germany, and a show at Sayreville, NJ’s Starland Ballroom, their only scheduled U.S. show, which sold out almost instantly.
