After ten days since the kick-off of the second installment of The Metal Tour of the Year, Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe was unfortunate to test positive for COVID-19. Rest assured, the group has informed his case is mild. However, Blythe could not attend last night’s (19th) performance in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Instead of the entire group sitting out last night, Blythe was temporarily replaced by Chimaira’s Mark Hunter and “a few friends.”
Yesterday, the group issued the following statement:
“Grand Rapids – Randy Blythe tested positive for COVID over the weekend and has been isolating away from the rest of the band. While his symptoms have been mild and he’s on the mend, he will not be able to perform tonight at the Van Andel Arena. However, the show will go on! We are working to put together a special show with our brother Mark Hunter from Chimaira taking over the mic and a few friends helping out as well. We’ll see you tonight! We are hopeful he will be able to return later this week and will update as soon as we can.”
Fan-filmed footage was eventually taken seeing Hunter, along with tourmates Trivium’s Matt Heafy and In Flames’ Anders Fridén filling in for Blythe at last night’s show.
