Flat Black, the brainchild of former Five Finger Death Punch guitarist Jason Hook, has been making waves since its inception last year. Flat Black have signed with Fearless Records for their debut album, produced by Hook and Chris Collier. Yesterday (22nd), the group unveiled their latest single, “Nothing to Some,” featuring Slipknot’s Corey Taylor.

Hook’s departure from FFDP in 2020 allowed him the freedom to pursue his creative vision with Flat Black. With singer Wes Horton, bassist Nick Diltz, and drummer Rob Pierce rounding out the lineup, Flat Black are ready to move forward with this next chapter.

Hook comments:

“This guy is a bottomless pit of creativity and delivered a vocal that perfectly matched what I wanted for this track. The guitar solo is unique on the album in the way that I let it rip with no rhythm guitars underneath. Now that I’m in a one-guitar band, I could strip it down and let it be as raw as Corey is on the vocal track. I remember hammering out live takes with Rob pounding away next to me. It was inspiring.”
