German metal queen Doro Pesch is working on a new album and is planning on giving fans a taste of it later this month.
On Friday (12), the singer announced that she will be releasing a new single. Titled “Brickwall,” the song was recorded in Hamburg with former The Sisters Of Mercy guitarist Andreas Bruhn. The song will be out digitally on June 26.
“’Brickwall’ is a harbinger for the upcoming album, that will be released in 2021,” said Pesch in a statement announcing the song, “I want to give my fans a taste of what it’s going to be like — and the song also fits quite well with these dark times.”
She continues, “The lyrics are about unbreakable, unconditional love for a person in deep trouble. Even though it isn’t always easy to deal with that person, you still do everything to support them and get through the dark times side by side — even if you literally have to tear down walls.”
In addition to the digital release, “Brickwall” will also be released on limited edition 7” vinyl on July 31. The pressing will be limited to 300 each of gold and silver vinyl and include a live recording of “Soldier Of Metal” as a B-side. Said Pesch, “The song was recorded during our recent ‘Forever Warriors’ tour in winter, where the song was celebrated by the fans every single evening. It’s supposed to help fans remember the feeling of a live show and raise anticipation for the next tour, that can hopefully start this autumn.”
Pesch’s upcoming, as-yet-untitled album will be her 14th studio release. The album is the follow-up to 2018’s Forever Warriors, Forever United.
Last month, it was announced that Pesch would be playing two drive-in shows in Germany. The first took place this past Saturday at Worms’ CARantena Arena. A second show is set to take place in Bottrop’s Autokino am Moviepark on June 28.
