Bruce Dickinson is gearing up for his upcoming solo effort, The Mandrake Project, which is set to arrive in early 2024 via BMG. The Iron Maiden singer has announced the forthcoming album’s first single, “Afterglow of Ragnarok,” will be unveiled on December 1st. The single provides a glimpse into the album’s music and the narrative of the dark, mature story of power, abuse, and identity set in the realms of science and the occult. The project, created by Dickinson, scripted by Tony Lee, and illustrated by Staz Johnson for Z2 Comics, consists of 12 episodes released as three graphic novels in 2024. A comic prequel accompanies the vinyl seven-inch single booklet, offering insights into the upcoming story. Additionally, Dickinson has added additional dates to his upcoming solo European tour.

Dickinson comments:

“It was important to set the tone of the project with this track. As befitting its title, it’s a heavy song and there’s a great big riff driving it…but there’s also a real melody in the chorus that displays the light and shade that the rest of the album brings… and just wait until you see the video!”
