It’s been roughly 24 hours since news of singer Ian Watkins’ arrest was made public. And late last night, the remaining members of Lostprophets issued their first statement addressing the charges against Watkins. In short, though, Watkins’ bandmates are just as shocked and baffled by the accusations as we all are.

The group has essentially shut down their website, with the following message posted on its homepage:

“Following charges made today against Ian Watkins, we find ourselves in a state of shock. We are learning about the details of the investigation along with you. It is a difficult time for us and our families, and we want to thank our fans for their support as we seek answers.

Jamie, Lee, Luke, Mike and Stu”

You have to feel a little sympathy for the other members of Lostprophets. Even though Watkins has yet to technically be proven guilty, this controversy will definitely take a toll on the band’s future. Watkins was remanded in custody while appearing in court yesterday, and will appear before Cardiff Crown Court on December 31 (along with two women who were also charged with similar offenses).
