GWAR have been moving forward with their current tour in honor of guitarist Cory Smoot (aka Flattus Maximus), who passed away two weeks ago. And now, as promised, the band and their label Metal Blade Records have launched a web page for the Smoot Family Fund in hopes of raising funds for the guitarist’s wife and unborn child.

The website for the fund includes the following message:

“Welcome to the Smoot Family Fund. This fund is designed to raise funds for Cory’s family, especially his wife Jamie and his unborn child. The response of our fans has been truly mind-blowing and we have done our best to honor Cory and help fans with their loss by continuing our tour. Now we all have an opportunity to contribute to the memory of one of the greatest metal guitar players out there and one of the best people we have ever had the honor of knowing. Rest in peace Cory, you are sorely missed.”

You can go to the Smoot Family Fund’s web page to make a donation via PayPal. We will keep you posted when more information regarding potential memorial shows being organized by the band is revealed. Once again, our condolences go out to Smoot’s family, friends, and band mates.
