The metal community is still shocked by the passing of GWAR guitarist Cory Smoot, better known as Flattus Maximus. While the band has moved forward with their current tour in honor of the guitarist, GWAR have canceled two dates in order to attend Smoot’s memorial service.
The memorial service will be taking place tomorrow, November 11, at the Bennett Funeral Home Chesterfield Chapel, located at 14301 Ashbrook Parkway in Chesterfield, VA. The private service will begin at 4pm. Because of the service, GWAR have canceled tonight’s performance in Medford, OR and tomorrow’s show in San Francisco, CA. Tickets for both shows will be refunded at point of purchase. The band will resume their tour with Every Time I Die, Ghoul and Warbeast in Los Angeles this coming Saturday (November 12).
An obituary for Cory can be read on Bennett Funeral Home’s website, while the remaining dates on GWAR’s current tour can be seen after the jump. Once again, our condolences go out to Smoot’s family, friends, and band mates in GWAR.
