Drums in the throne room? That’s what Anthrax are hoping to do for their next album. The Westeros throne room, where the Iron Throne from the hit HBO series Game of Thrones sits, may also be the setting of the drums for Anthrax’s follow-up to Worship Music. Guitarist Scott Ian was introduced to the show’s executive producer, DB Weiss, who’s an Anthrax fan, according to Metal Hammer, who spoke to Ian:
“I asked Dan Weiss ‘Hey man, what would be the possibility of us recording the drums for the next album in the throne room?’ Like we bring a mobile studio and set up the drums, mic everything and record in here. He says ‘Oh my God that would be the sickest thing ever. We know the guys that can make that possible.’ All of you out there who watch Game Of Thrones, much like me, probably think it is a very metal TV show. And just know, the reason for that is that one of the creators of it is a huge metalhead.”
That would certainly be pretty metal. Game of Thrones is shot in Belfast, Ireland, which is a long way to go to record drums, but completely worth it for bragging rights alone. It’d be a safe bet to assume that there will probably be a song or two based on the George R. R. Martin series of books that the series is based on. Until then, have a listen to The Wretched Sun, by our Scion No Label Needed Contest & Series winners Iron Thrones, who yes, did name their band after the books.
